BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University men's soccer team continued its great form on Wednesday evening as the team earned an 8-0 victory over the University of Maine-Presque Isle at Boucher Field in North Atlantic Conference action.
Graduate student Alexander Bryant started a run of three goals in the first 14 minutes of play for the Eagles (10-4-3, 6-1 NAC), as he headed home yet another corner kick goal in the third minute off of a left-footed cross of junior Mario Alvarez.
Junior Pedro Molina was next to find the scoring column for Husson as graduate student Kiko Sanchez was able to thread a pass through the Owl's (0-12-2, 0-5-1 NAC) defense and Molina was there to tally his third goal of the season.
Sophomore Carlos Etchevers concluded the furious offensive start for Husson as he blasted a left-footed shot home in the 14th minute off of a pass from classmate Miguel Morales.
Junior Florian Gasser and Molina each recorded a goal in the final ten minutes of the first half, with senior Josh Nadeau earning an assist on Gasser's tally, as the Eagles carried an astounding 5-0 lead into the halftime break.
Senior Kenny Penney, junior Alejandro Mora, and freshman Nico Baur each found the back of the net in the second half, as Husson wrapped up an 8-0 win to improve to 5-0 against their NAC East Division foes.
The Eagles concluded their ferocious offensive attack with 40 total shots, including 17 shots on goal. Husson managed to earn 14 corner kicks on the evening, while only conceding one to UMPI.
Junior Alex Rechsteiner manned the net for the Eagles and did not see much action as he was forced to make just two saves during the game. With his 17th career shutout, Rechsteiner is just one clean sheet away from tying the all-time record for most shutouts in the history of Husson men's soccer.
