LEXINGTON, Mass – The Husson University men's soccer team secured its second North Atlantic Conference victory of the week as it upended Lesley University 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at Minuteman Field behind four different goal scorers.
The Eagles (9-4-3, 5-1 NAC) found paydirt in the 31st minute of play as it was sophomore Miguel Morales who rifled home a right-footed shot off of a cross from junior Pablo Maroto that made its way just out of the reach of the Lesley (3-10-1, 1-4-1 NAC) goalkeeper, in addition to a sliding Lynx defender.
Senior Kenny Penney doubled the Husson lead in the 62nd minute, as he capped off a chaotic offensive attack for the Eagles. Sophomore Carlos Etchevers placed a left-footed cross that was saved from going out of bounds by Maroto at about the six-yard box. Maroto placed a header that was back-heeled by graduate student Ben Shumway and nearly into the hands of the Lesley goalkeeper. Penney stuck with the play as he laid his body on the line off of the goalie's deflection as he dove head-first towards the goal and managed to put home his first goal of the season.
Graduate student Alexander Bryant continued to be a presence for Husson on corner kicks as he used a large height advantage to place a beautiful header into the goal in the 76th minute off of junior Mario Alvarez's corner.
Etchevers managed to find the back of the net to conclude the scoring for the Eagles as he took advantage of a bouncing ball inside the 18-yard box and blasted the ball with his dominant left foot into the back of the net to seal the 4-0 win for Husson.
Junior Alex Rechsteiner finished a quiet day in net with just two saves, as he added another shutout to his tally.
The Eagles outshot the Lynx 22-4 on the afternoon and held a 14-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Husson will play its final home regular-season game on Tuesday as the University of Maine-Presque Isle will make the trip to Boucher Field for a conference fixture. Kick-off for the Eagle's home finale is set for 6:30 p.m.
