BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University men's basketball team came away with their second North Atlantic Conference game in as many days with a 74-55 victory over SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday afternoon at Newman Gymnasium.
The Eagles (5-8, 3-0 NAC) dominated the opening half as they opened on a 40-11 scoring outburst through the first 15 minutes of play and took a 42-18 lead into the locker room.
Graduate student Justice Kendall led the Husson offense during the half as he tallied 14 points, while junior Jeremy Moronta came off the bench to score eight points. The Eagles shot just under 50% for the half and won the rebounding battle 27-18, while also forcing the Fighting Tigers (12-3, 4-1 NAC) into 11 turnovers.
The Fighting Tigers made an early attempt at a comeback to start the second half as they scored the first 10 points of the frame before Husson would quickly counter with a 12-0 run to put a stronghold on their lead. The Eagles would salt away the remainder of the game to remain unbeaten in NAC play.
Kendall finished with 18 points to pace Husson, while Moronta also finished in double-digits with 12, in addition to grabbing six rebounds.
The Eagles shot an impressive 20-of-25 from the foul line for the game and maintained their edge on the glass as they finished with a 50-34 rebounding advantage.
It's back on the road for the men's basketball team as they will make the trip to New York for two games versus schools in the NAC west first with a visit to the Campus Center Gym for a rematch of last year's NAC championship game as they take on the Wildcats of SUNY Poly with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
