BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University women's basketball team returned from its holiday trip to Florida in a big way as they earned a North Atlantic Conference victory over SUNY Delhi 97-27 on Friday evening at Newman Gymnasium.
The Eagles (8-4, 2-0 NAC) led 25-6 at the end of the first quarter and held a 54-12 advantage at the half and never looked back.
Sophomore Hannah Richards paced Husson in the opening half as she tallied 13 points, while junior Bailey Donovan posted a double-double in the frame with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Eagles shot nearly 48% in the first half and outrebounded the Broncos (2-12, 0-4 NAC) by a 30-11 margin through the first 20 minutes.Husson continued its dominance in the second half as they outscored Delhi 43-15 to wrap up their second NAC victory of the year.
Richards finished with 15 to lead the Eagles, while Donovan finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Lacey Scanlon rounded-out the double-figure scorers for Husson as she poured in ten. Fellow sophomore Jordyn Lengle tallied 11 rebounds to go along with her eight points.
Husson continued its dominance on the boards as they held a 57-26 margin for the game. The Eagles also recorded 30 assists on 41 made field goals and forced the Broncos into 29 turnovers.
It's a quick turnaround for the women's basketball team as they will play host to SUNY Cobleskill tomorrow afternoon. Tip-off for this NAC contest is set for 1 p.m.
