BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University woman's basketball team reached the century mark as the Eagles defeated the Beavers of the University of Maine at Farmington 101-36 at Newman Gym in North Atlantic Conference play on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Bailey Donovan and graduate student Vanessa Duarte led the attack for the Eagles (13-5, 7-0 NAC) in the first half with 20 combined points. The Eagles were lights out on the offensive side in the first half shooting 21/38 (55%) including knocking down six shots behind the arc. It was the same on the defensive side of the ball as well for the Eagles, forcing 13 turnovers and making the Beavers (2-15, 1-7 NAC) put up tough shots going 6/23 (26%). The Eagles ended the first half up 52-17.
The second half brought more of the same from the two teams as the Eagles earned their seventh straight conference win as they sweep the season series over the Beavers.
Donovan topped the team in scoring with 16 along with six boards. Duarte with 14 of her own and led the team with five assists.
The women's basketball team will head back on the road on Tuesday when they travel to Smith Gymnasium to take on the Mariners of Maine Maritime Academy for a NAC contest that will tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
