BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University men's basketball team fell 82-72 to Colby College in non-conference action Tuesday night at Newman Gymnasium.
Husson (7-9) came out of the gate quickly in the first half and produced a 15-5 lead over Colby (12-5), which soon vanished when the Mules found themselves on a 26-6 run mid-way through the half. The Eagles were able to salvage points in the closing minutes of the half, going on a run of their own to close Colby's lead to just nine at the half, 37-28.
The Eagles were paced by junior
Scott Lewis in the opening 20 minutes, who scored 13 of Husson's 28 first-half points. Sophomore
Milos Sujica and junior
Jeremy Moronta tallied six each, while senior
Luke Caruso added three.
Colby started the second half on a 15-5 run in the first five minutes, ultimately leading to their ten-point victory over the Eagles. However, Husson didn't make it easy for the Mules as freshman
DJ Woods tallied a career-high 23 points in just the second half, trying to lead a late Eagle's comeback.
On the night Woods led the way for the Eagles with 23 points, followed by Lewis with 18 and Moronta with 15.
Up next, the Eagles will travel to the University of Maine at Farmington for a North Atlantic Conference matchup on Friday night. Tip-off for this contest is set for 7:30 p.m.
