CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Husson University women's soccer team hit the pitch for the first time this season as they came away with a 3-1 victory over the Blazers of Elms College on Saturday afternoon at Leary Field.

Sophomore Kate Harriman began the scoring in the 30th minute as the Eagles (1-0-0) headed into the locker room with a goal lead.

The Blazers (0-1-1) evened the score at the beginning of the second half before it became the Willow Whitten show. The senior subbed on in the 59th minute then scored the game-winning goal in the 60th minute. Eight minutes later, she assisted on Alexa Thayer's first goal since 2019 as the Eagles opened their 2022 campaign with the victory.
Sophomore Hannah Kenney made three saves in net for the Eagles as the Eagles fired 12 shots on target.

The women's soccer team has a quick turnaround as they will head to Springfield, Mass. for their second game of the season on Sunday vs. Western New England with kickoff set for 1:00 p.m. at Suprenant Field.
