BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University men's soccer team extended their unbeaten streak to four after a commanding 7-0 victory over The Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill on Sunday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference action.
The Fighting Tigers (0-8-1, 0-3-0 NAC) defense held strong for the first twenty minute before the
Arni Hreidarsson show began for the Eagles (4-2-2, 3-0-1 NAC). In the 23rd minute, the Icelandic striker was on the receiving end off a beautiful ball from sophomore
Alejandro Mora and Hreidarsson put home the 1v1 chance.
The Eagles were able to double the advantage on the stroke of halftime as a corner kick taken by sophomore
Mario Alvarez and a mistake by SUNY Cobleskill allowed sophomore
Pedro Molina to poke home his second collegiate goal.
After Hreidarsson was able to add his second of the afternoon; he dished out three assists as sophomore
Florian Gasser and graduate student
Christian Quinones each added a brace off the bench.
"It looked like today was going to be another one of those days," said head coach
Gavin Penny. "We lacked conviction in our possession and didn't look threatening. I challenged the lads at half time to be more dangerous and take more risks. It wasn't until we changed the shape in the last 25 minutes that we became a dangerous looking team. The change allowed us to play more in the final third and get more players in the box and it paid off. We are looking forward to a big game against UNE on Wednesday."
It's back to non-conference action on Wednesday as the University of New England will make the trip to Boucher Field for a 6:00 p.m. fixture.
