PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The Husson University men's soccer traveled to New Hampshire as they dropped a 3-0 result to the Plymouth State University Panthers on Thursday night.

The Eagles (0-1) held the majority of the possession in the first half of the contest but it was the Panthers (1-0) who held the lead at the break with two goals in the opening ten minutes.

The Panthers worked the ball well inside the box prior to August Westerholm tucking home a neat finish in the bottom left corner. Faisal Abdallah scored the second goal three minutes later by finishing off a counter attack off a Husson corner.

The best chance of the contest for Husson came in the 55th minute as sophomore Florian Gasser floated a corner kick to the near post that the Panthers' goalkeeper cleared it off the line.

Plymouth State would put home a third goal off a corner kick via Job Boonstoppel to take the victory, 3-0.

"Today was not a good start for us," said head coach Gavin Penny. "As the coach of this team I certainly take full responsibility for team selections. We were two goals behind before we really got going which made it difficult for us. We made some changes which tipped the possession and opportunities in our favor, but we didn't do enough to score the goals. At the end of the day, we were beaten well by a hard-working team. The season is still young and we are not yet where we want to be. We learned a lot about ourselves today and we have to look at what we can do individually and as a group to fix our weaknesses. Collectively, we need to regroup, work harder, and focus on what we can improve to try to win Sunday's match. Not all is lost, its only one game in a very young season, but if we don't learn the lessons from today, Sunday will be another tough day for us."

The men's soccer team will return to New Hampshire on Sunday as they take on Colby-Sawyer at Kelsey Soccer Field with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
