Story Links

BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University women's soccer team closed out a weekend set of games at Boucher Field as they lost a 3-1 contest to Keene State College on Sunday afternoon.

The Eagles had a handful of chances in the first half including multiple 1v1 with the keeper but were held off the scoreboard as it was scoreless at the break.

In the second half, the Eagles were able to open the scoring in the 57th minute as the Eagles put a free kick into the box and the ball ping ponged around until it came to junior Lindsey Russell at the edge of the box and she volleyed it which fooled the Keene State goalie and found the back of the net.

The Owls would respond in the form of their top goalscorer Elizabeth Kopicko as she recorded a hat trick in a 25 minute span to give Keene State the non-conference victory.

The women's soccer team will remain home for their next contest as they take on SUNY Delhi in a North Atlantic Conference fixture set for Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
