WATERVILLE, Maine - The Husson University field hockey team fell to Colby College, 5-3, in non-conference action at Bill Alfond Field on Sunday afternoon.
The Mules took a 1-0 lead 38 seconds into game when junior Lillian Kistner fired a shot pass senior keeper
Kimmie Goddard after taking a nice pass from senior Hig Sevigny. Senior Jackie Hill pushed the Colby advantage to two at the 6:38 mark before freshman
Maddie Perkins tailled her third goal of the season in the closing minutes of the first period.
Freshman Elizabeth Takoudes and Molly MItchell, and Kistner put the Mules up by four goals with five minutes left in the first half. Sophomore
Allison Drew scored her first of the season at the 29:58 mark to the cut the Mules' lead to three heading into the intermission.
Senior
Katie Perkins scored Husson's third goal of the game at the 35:38 mark to bring the Eagles in with in two of Colby, however the Mules defense kept the Eagles scoreless the rest of the way to pick up the 5-3 victory. Junior
Julia Murch was credited with an assist on the K. Perkins' first goal of the season.
Goddard made three stops in the net for the Eagles, while junior Emily Loeb record a save for Colby.
Senior
Maya Joy had two defensive saves in the setback.
The Mules held the advantage in shots (18-11) and shots on goal (8-4), while Husson had the upper hand in penalty corners (11-5).
Husson returns to action on Thursday when they host the Huskies of the University of Southern Maine under the lights of the Dr. John W. Winkin Sports Complex. The non-conference matchup is slated to start at 7:00 p.m.
