BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University women's soccer team returned home to Boucher Field on Saturday afternoon as they took down the Terriers of Thomas College in North Atlantic Conference action.
The Eagles were on the attack for most of the contest as they fired 28 shots in the contest as they opened the scoring in the 8th minute. Sophomore
Megan Buddemeyer had space down the right flank and drove a low cross into the box as sophomore
Kate Harriman was there to fire the one-time shot into the net for second goal of the season. The lead became comfortable in the 18th minute when senior
Alexa Thayer whipped a shot from outside the box that took an unlucky deflection off a Terriers' defender into the back of the net for her second goal of the season.
In the second half, the Eagles continued to fire shots from all across the box as they found their only goal of the second half in the 75th minute. A handball inside the box allowed freshman
Marila Corletto to take the penalty kick and drill the shot to the bottom left corner and celebrate her first collegiate goal.
Sophomore
Hannah Kenney didn't see much work as the Eagles' backline forced the Terriers to one shot on goal which was an easy save for the goalkeeper.
It's a quick turnaround for the women's soccer team as they are back tomorrow with a non-conference fixture versus Keene State with the contest slated for 1:00 p.m.
