Box Score 2 BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University baseball completed a North Atlantic Conference four game sweep of the Beavers of the University of Maine at Farmington with a doubleheader sweep on senior day at the Harold Alfond Diamond. The Eagles came from behind to win game one, 5-1, before pitching a one-hitter in a 3-0 game two victory.
The Eagles (21-15, 13-1 NAC) trailed game one until the sixth inning when they scored five runs to steal the victory away from the Beavers (8-25, 6-9 NAC). Senior Kobe Rogerson led off the inning with a single then stole second as senior Ethan Stoddard drove him home with a single down the right field line. Stoddard, with a tie game, stole second and advanced to third on an error before freshman Ty Knowlton drove him home with a single. With two runners in scoring position; senior Nick Swift broke open the game with a two-run single and senior Tyler Parke brought him home with a sacrifice fly.
Freshman Connor Abood pitched a stellar six innings as he allowed two hits before senior Jake Gregoire pitched a perfect seventh inning. The duo combined for five strikeouts.
For the first time in five games; the Eagles scored first. Senior Brett Riffe led off the inning and was able to get to third base thanks to back-to-back Beaver errors. Freshman Ben O'Connell drove him home with a single up the middle. Senior Evan Holzworth doubled the lead with a RBI triple.
In the fifth, senior Logan Sheridan tripled off the fence in center field then made it 3-0 Husson as he scored on a passed ball. That was all the Eagles needed as the pitching staff allowed one hit and one walk as they struck out six.
It was a staff day for the Eagles in game two as sophomore Harrison Lendrum took care of the first inning. Senior Hunter O'Connor, sophomores Zain Fitzsimmons and Jackson Thayer, as well as freshmen Ryne Rametta and Matt Wallingford each pitched an inning allowing a combined zero hits and one walk. Sophomore Ryan Robb pitched a perfect seventh inning for his fourth save of the season.
Prior to game one, the Eagles honored their ten seniors for their dedication to the program. Those seniors were: Austin Baron, Rogerson, Holzworth, Parke, Stoddard, O'Connor, Swift, Gregoire, Sheridan, and Cam Graham.
That concludes the conference schedule for the Eagles as they will close out the regular season on Wednesday with a non-conference trip to Lewiston to take on the Bobcats. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
