Rogerson's career day helps baseball complete season sweep of Thomas

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
WATERVILLE, Maine - It was senior Kobe Rogerson's world as the Husson University baseball team recorded a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader sweep over Thomas College. The senior recorded his first collegiate homer as the Eagles (17-15, 9-1 NAC) won game one, 3-1, and game two, 3-1, in eight innings.

In game one, the Eagles' offense started early with a run in the first inning as junior Joshua Scott takes home while sophomore Jackson Curtis was caught in a pickle for a 1-0 lead.

In the fourth, senior Kobe Rogerson doubled off the third base bag to bring home Curtis and make it 2-0 Husson. Terriers (13-24, 8-8 NAC) would score their only run in the bottom half of the inning.

Rogerson drove in an insurance run in the fifth as he drove a rocket of the third base bag to bring home senior Tyler Parke

The Eagles bullpen shut the door down as senior Jake Gregoire got the Eagles out a jam in the sixth then sophomore Ryan Robb pitched a perfect ninth including two strikeouts for a 3-0 victory.

Sophomore Jackson Thayer started the first game and went three-plus innings as he struck out two and allowed three hits. Gregoire went two-plus inning and struck out three.

In game two, the Terriers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning.

Husson got a run back in the fourth as a Terriers' error allowed Rogerson to score and make it 3-1 Thomas.

In the fourth, Curtis led off the inning with double off the fence in left center field. Rogerson followed that up with a two run shot to left field to tie the game at three.

The Terriers looked to take the lead in the bottom half of the inning but they stranded a runner on third.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Terriers had the winning run on second but sophomore Harrison Lendrum recorded back-to-back outs to force extras.

In the eighth, senior Ethan Stoddard doubled and advanced to third on a failed pickoff throw. Freshman Tanner Evans hit a sacrifice fly to right field and Stoddard tagged up for the winning run.

Robb pitched his second perfect inning of the afternoon as the Eagles won game two, 4-3.

Freshman Matt Wallingford started the second contest as he allowed three runs and struck out four. Sophomore Chris Naylor and freshman Ryne Rametta pitched the next two innings as they combined for three strikeouts. Lendrum pitched the final three regulation innings as he fanned four and allowed one hit.

The baseball team returns to the Harold Alfond  Diamond on the weekend as they close out their conference schedule with the Beavers of UMaine-Farmington. The four game set starts on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at noon.
