Box Score 2 BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University baseball team continued to erupt on offense as they scored 39 runs in a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader sweep of the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Saturday afternoon at the Harold Alfond Diamond.
The Eagles (12-15, 4-1 NAC) carried over their offense from the Thomas series scoring four runs in the first inning en route to 19-0 victory in game one over UMPI (6-20, 3-4 NAC). Junior Austin Snow, freshman Tanner Evans, and sophomore Jackson Curtis each drove in three runs while Snow recorded three hits.
Senior Alex Smith earned the start on the mound as he allowed three hits in six innings as he struck out four. Junior Austin Tomalonis closed out the contest pitching a perfect seventh inning including two strikeouts.
In game two, the Eagles were held scoreless in the first inning but put up five on the scoreboard in the second inning and never looked back. Senior Nick Swift drove in four runs on three hits while junior Joshua Scott brought home three runs as the Eagles won game two, 20-5.
Sophomores Jackson Thayer, Zain Fitzsimmons, Ben Taneman, and Liam Cooledge, and freshmen Ryne Ramette and Eli Reed, and senior Evan Holzworth as well as Tomlaonis all made an appearance on the mound.
The baseball team will close out their series with UMPI on Sunday with a doubleheader starting at noon at the Harold Alfond Diamond.
