Box Score 2 BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University baseball team completed a perfect three game homestand on Saturday afternoon as they defeated the University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls in a non-conference doubleheader at the Harold Alfond Diamond. Husson (6-10) won game one, 18-3, while winning game two, 20-0.
The Eagles offense came out to play scoring the first eight runs of the contest highlighted by a three run double from junior Joshua Scott. UMPI (2-15) scored a run in the sixth, seventh, and eighth but the Eagles ended game one with nine runs in the eight inning to score the 15 run victory. The Eagles benefited by drawing a program record 19 walks.
The Eagles were led by sophomore Jackson Curtis who drove in five runs on three hits while Scott and senior Ethan Stoddard each drove in three. Senior Kobe Rogerson drove in two hours while seniors Tyler Parke and Nick Swift as well as freshman Tanner Evans each drove in one.
Cam Graham earned the start on the mound as he gave up two hits in two innings. The senior southpaw struck out four including his 100th career strikeout. Freshman Connor Abood took over and pitched four innings; giving up a solo run. Freshman Ryne Rametta and senior Evan Holzworth closed out the final three innings.
In game two, the Eagles continued to explode on offense as they scored in every inning but one for a 20-0 victory.
The offense was powered by Swift and Evans who each drove in three runs while Curtis, Scott, and freshman Ty Knowlton each drove in two.
On the mound, Senior Alex Smith started and pitched four innings as he allowed two hits. Senior Hunter O'Connor, junior Austin Tomalonis, sophomores Ben Taneman, Zain Fitzsimmons, and freshmen Matt Wallingford and Bradley McLaughlin combined to allow one hit in relief in five innings pitched.
The baseball team hits the road to start an eight game road trip starting on Tuesday as they face off with the Huskies of Southern Maine. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Ed Flaherty Field.
