Box Score ONEONTA, N.Y. — The Husson University men's lacrosse team lost its weekend New York trip finale to SUNY Delhi in North Atlantic Conference action on Sunday.
SUNY Delhi (4-4, 4-0 NAC) began Sunday's battle with a three-goal lead before senior Gunner McAllister got the Eagles on the board pulling withing 3-1.
Husson (3-9, 0-3 NAC) pulled within one goal of Delhi with a senior goal by junior Matthew Boynton, but the Broncos added a four goal just a few seconds later to increase their advantage to 4-2.
Sophomore Danny Carter cut into the deficit to make it 4-3, however both teams would trade goals over the final three minutes in the opening period with Carter scoring again off an assist from senior Roman Dennis with Delhi coming away with a 6-4 advantage after the opening frame.
The second quarter would belong to the Broncos and be the deciding factor in Sunday's conference showdown, both teams traded goals over the first four minutes with junior Sean Lyne scoring, but Delhi answered with an 8-0 run before junior Ben Huynh broke the run with a goal with 30 seconds remaining in the half to pull within 15-6 at the break.
Delhi would narrowly edge the Eagles 3-1 in the third quarter with McAllister adding his second goal.
The Eagles would mount a comeback in the fourth quarter finishing the frame with five goals including two goals from senior Darryn Bailey, a score from freshman Nathan Vibber and goals from Huynh and McAllister, however the damage had been done early as the Eagles fell 24-12.
McAllister finished with three goals for the Eagles on 10 shot attempts while adding four ground balls. Rennis finished with a team-high seven scoops, while senior Bryan Wagg tallied 17 saves on the day.
Husson returns to action on Saturday when it battles Thomas College on the road at 1 p.m.
