Henniker, N.H. — The Husson University women's basketball team wasted no time getting into the win column on Tuesday as it rolled past New England College 81-58 on the road in its season opener.
Husson (1-0) took a 20-8 edge after the opening quarter with junior
Bailey Donovan pouring in nine of her game-high 17 points in the opening quarter while junior
Makaelyn Porter added four points to put the Eagles up by double-digits after the opening frame.
NEC (0-1) was outscored 23-12 in the second quarter as the Eagles opened up a 43-20 advantage heading into halftime.
The Pilgrims would keep it close in the third quarter, playing Husson to a 25-18 quarter score before winning the final quarter 20-13, but the damage had been done early as the Eagles came away with the 81-56 win.
Donovan finished with a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double while adding two blocks on 8-12 shooting from the floor.

Hannah Richards also added double-digit points with 11 in her Husson debut.
10 Eagles scored in Tuesday's win as Husson dominated in the paint scoring 42 of its 81 points down low on 54.4 percent shooting from the floor.
Husson limited the Pilgrims to just 33.3 percent shooting on the night and dished out 19 assists.
The Eagles will take to the road against on Saturday for the Lafrance Hospitality Tournament hosted by UMass Dartmouth, opening with the host at 7 p.m.
