LEWISTON, Maine — The Husson University women's basketball team dropped a hard-fought 64-61 decision to Bates College on the road Tuesday night in non-conference action.
Husson (3-3) jumped out to a 17-7 lead following the opening quarter on Tuesday and clung to a 35- 28 edge at halftime after the Bobcats won the second quarter 21-18.
The Eagles would open the second half winning the third quarter 19-17 to take a 54-45 lead heading into the final quarter.
However, the final quarter would be all Bates as they limited the Eagles to just seven points over the final 10 minutes while finishing on a 19-7 run to pick up the 64-61 decision.
Junior
Bailey Donovan finished with a team-high 24 points and nine rebounds while dishing on two assists and matched a career-high with six blocks.
Graduate student
Vanessa Duarte tallied 12 points and also matched a career-high with seven assists.
Sophomore
Hannah Richards added seven points and two steals while fellow sophomore
Roxanne Sasse finished with six points and two steals.
The Eagles will look to bounce back on Saturday when they host the University of Maine-Presque Isle at 1 p.m. for the Husson Sports Hall of Fame Game.
