Women's basketball drops consolation game of Lafrance Hospitality Tournament to Saints

Box Score NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. — The Husson University women's basketball team closed out the weekend with a 73-63 loss to the Saints of St. Lawrence on Sunday afternoon at the Tripp Athletic Center in the consolation game of the Lafrance Hospitality Tournament.

It took roughly four minutes until either team could get on the scoreboard as the Saints (1-1) held a one point after the first quarter. The Eagles' (1-2) offense saw sophomore Sophia McVicar come off the bench to score seven points in the ten minutes of action.

The Saints would continue to lead the contest until early in the fourth quarter when freshman Camryn Neal gave the Eagles their first lead since midway through the first quarter as Neal capped off a 10-0 run. That 51-50 lead, however, wouldn't last as the Liberty League school outscored the Eagles, 23-12, to close out the game for the victory.

Despite the loss, it was a career day for McVicar as she scored a career-high 12 points while senior Bailey Donovan recorded her third straight double-double to start the season with 24 points and 11 boards.

The women's basketball team looks to regroup on Wednesday for their home opener when they take on the University of Southern Maine with the contest set to begin at 6:00 p.m. at Newman Gymnasium.
