BANGOR, Maine — Husson University men's basketball senior
Justice Kendall surpassed the 1,000th career point plateau in the Eagles 69-65 overtime loss to the University of Maine-Fort Kent.

Husson (1-1) and Fort Kent (1-0) traded points throughout the opening half with neither team able to pull away.Â

The Bengals converted on a late 3-point basket, but hit a late jumper to make it a two-point Fort Kent lead at the break 27-25.Â

The opening 11 minutes of the second half would repeat the first half with neither team able to pull away. That was until the Bengals netted six-straight points to take a 52-44 lead with 5:39 remaining.Â

The Eagles hit back-to-back baskets, one by Kendall and another by freshman
Eric Ahlers to pull within 52-48 with 2:19 remaining.Â

Fort Kent added a basket late to make it a six-point contest, but senior
J Thomas hit a corner 3-pointer to pull back within 54-51 and senior
Derek Collin would force a Bengals turnover on the ensuing possession before finding Thomas for another 3-pointer to force a 54-54 tie and overtime.Â

Husson hit another 3-point basket to begin overtime and looked to have found its touch from outside, but Fort Kent benefited from a 15-8 run to close out the game and earn the road win.Â

Thomas finished with a team-high 16 points, while Kendall added 15 points and three steals.Â

Ahler's added his first career double-double in the loss finishing with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while junior
Scott Lewis also added double-digit point totals with 10.Â

The Eagles will look to bounce back on Nov. 19 when they battle Saint Joseph's College of Maine on the road in the fifth annual alumni cup at 3 p.m.
