BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University women's soccer team scored three times in the second half as they defeated Maine Maritime Academy, 3-1, to claim the 2022 North Atlantic Conference East Division Title on Sunday afternoon at Boucher Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Eagles (11-6-1) came out firing in the second half scoring twice in a five minute span to start the second half.
In the 47th minute, sophomore
Natalie Aviolla's free kick taken from 25-yard out banged off the crossbar and ping-ponged around the box before senior
Willow Whitten smashed the ball into the back of the net. Moments later in the 52nd minute; it was 2-0. A ball whipped into the box was whiffed by the Mariners' )7-9-1) defense before Aviolla took control and scored her 16th goal of the season.
Mariners scored in the 80th minute via Emma White on a penalty kick but freshman
Marila Corletto scored her second free-kick goal in as many days to put the game away and confirm the Eagles spot in the championship game next weekend.

Madison Weigler made a solo save in net for the green and gold.
The women's soccer team, like the men, will play host to SUNY Delhi on Saturday for the NAC Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament on the line. Kickoff time for Saturday will be announced tomorrow.
