BANGOR, Maine - Two goals in a ten minute span saw the Husson University men's soccer team comeback from a goal down to defeat Thomas College, 2-1, and advanced to the North Atlantic Conference championship game as they have been crowned NAC East Division champions.

The Eagles (14-3-2) held the possession for the majority of the first half but it was the Terriers (7-7-4) who opened the scoring in the 15th minute as the duo of sophomore Joshua Joseph and senior Eric LaBrie connected on a counter attack for a 1-0 Thomas lead.

At halftime, senior Tyler Welch came into the match as the Eagles changed formations and turned the match around. Sophomore Arni Hrediarrson leveled the match right before Welch and freshman Miguel Morales connected for the match-winning goal in the 63rd minute.

The Terriers searched for the equalizer but the Eagles defense and sophomore goalkeeper Alexander Rechsteiner kept the Terriers off the scoreboard for the 2-1 victory.

"What a great day, great moment for this team, our program," said head coach Gavin Penny. "We have worked tremendously hard over two seasons to get our shot at the conference championship and today we have earned it. I'm so incredibly proud of this group. We have completely dominated every single moment and facet of today's game. Complete respect for Thomas College men's soccer. Kyle and his group have made it incredibly difficult for us and made us earn it. What a complete tactical game for us. We had so much of the ball and had to find other ways to get into their final third. Thankfully, those changes worked. We are all very happy that we have got the win and a chance in the final next weekend at home with our fans. We are thankful for our incredible support."

It's on to the title game for the Eagles as they will host SUNY Delhi on Saturday with a berth in the NCAA tournament on the line. Saturday's kickoff time will be announced on Monday.
