BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University women's soccer team closed out the regular season with a 6-0 victory on Saturday afternoon over the Mariners of Maine Maritime Academy at Boucher Field on senior day.
The Eagles attacked from the very beginning as it took until the 22nd minute for the Eagles to get their deserved goal. Freshman Marila Corletto dropped a beautiful ball over the Mariners' back line and sophomore Natalie Aviolla made no mistake on the 1v1 attempt for the opening goal.
The score would remain 1-0 until the 58th minute when the Eagles opened the game with five goals in a twenty minute for the 6-0 victory. Sophomore Kate Harriman would make it 2-0 with an assist from sophomore Sophia Mullins before Mullins herself got on the score sheet as she ripped a volley into the top corner. Aviolla would add her second of the game and 15th off the season as she won the NAC Golden Boot for the second straight season. Senior Alexa Thayer connected on a corner from sophomore Megan Buddemeyer while freshman Devon St. Louis recorded her second collegiate goal and freshman Addi Laslie added two assists.
Freshman Madison Weigler recorded a clean sheet as she was forced to make a save for the first time in four games.
With the victory, the women's soccer team has clinched the overall #1 seed for the North Atlantic Conference tournament as they will take on the University of Maine at Presque Isle at Boucher Field in the quarterfinal round with date and time to be decided.
