BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 North Atlantic Conference victory beating Northern Vermont University-Lyndon in straight sets to remain unbeaten in conference play.
Husson (7-7, 3-0 NAC) jumped out to an early 1-0 advantage on Saturday winning the opening set 25-15 backed by a .391 hitting percentage.
The Eagles would follow up their 25-15 set one win, with a record-tying 25-3 set two victory tying the fewest points in a set, in program history while taking a commanding 2-0 edge.
NVU-Lyndon (0-15, 0-2 NAC) won the first point in the third set, but Husson rolled off a 11-3 run to take an 11-4 advantage. The Hornets managed to pull within 11-6 of the Eagles, however, a 6-0 run saw Husson increase its lead to 17-6 and pick up 25-9 set three win.
The Eagles finished with a .458 hitting percentage on the afternoon, backed by senior
Cheyenne Young's game-high 10 kills on one error hitting .563 for the match.
Sophomore
Beatrice Tursi recorded a career-high six kills in the win, while sophomore's
Alexa Beal,
Julia Leavitt and
Cam Schweitzer all added six kills apiece, all hitting over .333 for the match.
Sophomore
Alyvia McIntyre finished with a game-high 28 assists and matched Leavitt with a game-high four service aces.
Husson returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Saint Joseph's College of Maine in non-conference action beginning at 7 p.m.
