Cheyenne Young combined for 35 kills to help propel the Husson University volleyball team to a five-set victory of Northern Vermont University-Johnson to remain unbeaten in North Atlantic Conference play.
NVU-Johnson (6-6, 0-1 NAC) looked to be the dominate team in Saturday's conference showdown jumping out to a 25-16 set one decision to take an early 1-0 edge.
Husson (6-7, 2-0 NAC) bounced back in the second set, hitting .423 with 12 kills and only one error to cruise to a 25-19 set win and even the match 1-1.
Set three would belong to the Eagles as well, winning 25-21 to take a 2-1 lead.
The Badgers didn't go quietly on the afternoon though, as they evened the game 2-2 with a 25-20 set four win, but the fifth and deciding set would be all Husson.
The Eagles jumped out to a commanding 7-0 lead before NVU-Johnson ended Husson run with their first point.
Husson managed to take a 10-2 edge before the Badgers rolled off a four-point run to pull within 11-6, but two NVU-Johnson attack errors and back-to-back Young kills put the game to rest 15-7 and helped the Eagles improve to 2-0 in conference.
Leavitt finished with a team-high 20 kills, hitting .319 from the outside while Young tallied 15 kills, also hitting .300 for the match while posting a double-double with 11 digs.
Sophomore
Alyvia McIntyre posted a game-high 42 assists and seven service aces while Leavitt tallied four aces and graduate student
Amber Lemay recorded double-digit scoops with 10.
The Eagles will look to remain unbeaten in conference play when they host NVU-Lyndon on Sunday at noon.
