Box Score MARCY, N.Y. - Following a closely matched opening quarter in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Men's Lacrosse Championship game, the SUNY Poly Wildcats (10-0) pulled away from the Husson University Eagles (4-4) to capture the conference title with a 25-8 victory.
Taking an early 2-0 lead, Gunner McAllister and Matthew Boynton tucked away a pair of goals to hold the advantage in the opening five minutes of the first quarter. By the sixth minute, a goal from SUNY Poly's Andrew Maycock cut the Eagles' lead in half, but an abrupt retaliation from Jaden Wells once again put Husson ahead by two. A pair of back-to-back goals by the Wildcats tied the game at 3-3 with barely six minutes remaining in the opening quarter. Maycock's second point of the afternoon gave SUNY Poly their first lead of the day, 4-3. A Roman Dennis goal with just under two minutes remaining in the first period left the Eagles trailing , 7-4, headed into the second quarter.
SUNY Poly continued to chip away at the score, more than doubling their points on the scoreboard by the time the whistle blew for half time. McAllister found the back of the net for the lone goal of the quarter for the Eagles. Husson made a comeback attempt in the third quarter as Ben Huynh and Danny Carter notched their first tallies of the afternoon, but the offensive effort of SUNY Poly overwhelmed the Eagles as they were outscored, 25-8, to finish out the game.
After the game, the NAC named the 2021 Men's Lacrosse Championship All-Tournament Team. The All-Tournament Team was as follows:
