Box Score 2 BANGOR, Maine - Husson University (17-5, 17-1 NAC-East) posted a pair of convincing victories over Thomas College (8-7, 7-5 NAC-East) in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division baseball doubleheader at the Harold Alfond Diamond at the Dr. John W. Winkin Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles defeated the Terriers by a 7-3 score in the opener and completed the sweep with a 13-4 nightcap victory.
HUSSON 7, THOMAS (MAINE) 3
The Eagles jumped out the gates with two runs off two hits in the bottom of the first inning. Akira Warren doubled down the right field line to lead off the inning and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Tyler Parke before David LeBlanc reached first on a walk. LeBlanc then stole second and scored with Warren on Chris Ewanik single through the right side. A Terrier miscue in the bottom of the second inning allowed Ethan Stoddard to push the Eagle lead to 3-0.
The Terriers added a run in the third on an RBI groundout by Aaron Young and two runs in the fourth on back-to-back hits by Kyle Gleason and Ryan Kappelman to even the game at 3-3.
Husson took back the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth when Stoddard left the yard with his first of the season. The Eagles then added insurance runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Parke and two in the sixth off a two-run shot by Jackson Curtis.
ON THE MOUND:
Cam Graham improved to 3-1 on the season after allowing three unearned runs off six hits with two K's in six innings. Ryan Robb pitched a scoreless seventh inning, fanning one batter.
Thomas' starter Daniel May falls to 2-2 this spring after yielding seven runs off seven hits and two walks with four K's in six innings.
OFF THE BAT:
- Stoddard went 2-3 with two runs, a homerun, and two RBIs.
- Curtis was 1-3 with a run, a homerun, and an RBI.
- Ewanik went 1-3 with two RBIs
- For the Terriers, Kappelmann went 3-4 with two doubles and an RBI in the setback.
HUSSON 13, THOMAS (MAINE) 4
The Eagles scored seven runs in the bottom of the first inning off five hits and a Terrier miscue.
Thomas (Maine) cut the Husson lead to three in the top of the second inning on back-to-back-hits by Kappelman and Devin Grindle, and a RBI single Jackson Ladd.
Husson put the game out of reach in the bottom of the third inning with six runs off two hits.
ON THE MOUND:
Harrison Lendrum picks up the win and is now 2-0 after allowing four unearned runs off five hits with five strikeouts. Jackson Thayer threw the final three innings of the game to earn his second save of the season. He only allowed one batter to reach base on a walk, while striking out three.
Thomas (Maine) starter Jacob Lacroix falls to 1-2 on the season after giving up seven runs (four earned) off four hits and two walks in 0.2 innings.
OFF THE BAT:
- Curtis was 2-4 with a run, a double and three RBIs.
- Ewanik was 2-3 with a run, a double and two RBIs.
- Parke went 2-3 with two runs, a RBI and two stolen bases.
- Warren went 2-5 with a run and a stolen base.
- For Thomas (Maine), Gleason, Kappelmann, Grindle, Ladd and Lucas Harmon posted a hit apiece.
