Box Score 2 BANGOR, Maine - For the first time since the 1970's, the Husson baseball team (14-4, 14-0 North Atlantic Conference) has won 14-straight, after defeating the University of Maine-Presque Isle in both games of Saturday's doubleheader at the Alfond Diamond. Game one was a 3-2 victory followed by a 10-0 shutout.
GAME ONE: Husson 3, UMPI 2
UMPI opened the scoring in the first inning as Dalton Gillis popped out to right field for a sacrifice fly and scored Joseph Blake on the play.
The Eagles would respond by scoring a run in the second, third, and fourth inning. In the second inning, it was the Eagles' turn for a sacrifice fly as Austin Baron flew out to center and Chris Ewanik tied the game. In the third inning, the Eagles took the lead as Jackson Curtis hit a ground out to short and the Owls took the out at second as Tyler Parke was able to score. The Owls would tie the game in the top of the fourth when Payton Jones doubled to left field, but the stalemate wouldn't last long, as David LeBlanc singled to center to score Arika Warren for the game-winning run.
ON THE MOUND
For the visitors in game one, Kaiden Crowley recorded a no decision after allowing two runs on two hits in two innings of work. Nick Perfitt recorded the loss after giving up the game-winning run as he went three innings. His pitching line would finish with two hits allowed and two strikeouts. Nathan Church pitched the sixth inning and allowed one hit.
For the Eagles, Cam Graham got the start and lasted 2.1 innings after allowing a run on three hits. Jack Corey finished the third inning and gave up a hit but got himself out of a jam. Jake Gregoire would get his first win of the season as he went the middle three innings and gave up a run on two hits. Ryan Robb pitched a no-hit seventh inning for his third save of the season.

GAME TWO: Husson 10, UMPI 0
Unlike the first game, Husson took the lead early and never looked back. With two runners on in the bottom of the first, Brandon Smith cleared the bases with a single to left field. The Eagles would lead 2-0 until the third inning when they would add a run as David LeBlanc doubled to right-center field and Austin Snow scored. It was 3-0 Husson when the Eagles blew the game open in the sixth inning. With David LeBlanc on, Smith smashed the ball over the left field fence for his second homer of the season and the Eagles first homer of the season on the Alfond Diamond. An RBI-double from Ethan Stoddard followed by back-to-back RBI singles from Evan Holzworth and Brent Riffe gave Husson an eight-run lead. Husson added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth on their way to a 10-0 victory.
ON THE MOUND
Patrick Outler dropped to 0-2 on the season as he went 5+ innings and allowed six earned runs on eight hits and struck out three. Roberto Pena took over in the sixth for Outler and gave up three unearned runs on four hits before being pulled for Jordan Hanscom who got the final out.
Hunter O'Connor recorded his first collegiate victory after pitching a five-inning shutout. O'Connor relinquished four hits while fanning four batters. Cayden Dupras and Brandon Burnell pitched the final two innings and each gave up just one hit and struck out an Owl.
OFF THE BAT

Smith led the team as he drove in four runs and smacked a homer in the victory.

The Eagles will look to continue their win-streak when they close out the NAC series with their bird rival on Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Harold Alfond Diamond. Sunday's game is a single nine-inning game.
