Box Score 2 BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University baseball team (3-4, 3-0 North Atlantic Conference) shut out the UMaine-Farmington Beavers (0-4, 0-3 NAC) in both games of a Saturday afternoon doubleheader at the Winkin Sports Complex. Husson took the first game, 6-0, and followed it up with a 4-0 victory.
GAME 1 - Husson 6, UMaine-Farmington 0
Just like Thursday's game against the Beavers, the Eagles got off to a fast start in the first inning by scoring two runs. Kobe Rogerson and David LeBlanc took advantage of a failed pickoff attempt as Rogerson scored and LeBlanc went from first to third. LeBlanc scored two batters later as Brandon Smith smacked a double to the left field wall.
The next runs of the contest for the Eagles were from sacrifice flies as Tyler Parke drove home Rogerson in the third and Rogerson drove home Evan Holzworth in the fifth.
The duo of Jackson Curtis and Smith worked together again in the sixth inning to cap off the scoring as Curtis drove in Chris Ewanik with a single then Smith scored on a Beaver error to finish off the 6-0 victory.
ON THE MOUND
Each side threw two pitchers in game one with their starters going at least five innings. Cam Graham gets credited with his first win of the season as he went 5.2 shutout innings and gave up three hits while sitting down four Beavers. Jackson Thayer entered with a two-out jam in the top of the 6th and put that to rest before getting the final three outs as he finished with two strikeouts and one hit in 1.2 innings pitched.
Chris Albert made his first collegiate start for the Beavers and recorded the loss after five innings pitched. He allowed six runs (four earned) on nine hits and recorded two strikeouts. TJ Dorn pitched the sixth inning for the Beavers and walked a batter.
AT THE PLATE

Rogerson and Smith each had two hits and drove in a run.

Riley Bartell recorded two of the Beavers' four hits including a double.

LeBlanc, Ewanik, and Holzworth each scored a run and a hit.
Game Two - Husson 4, UMaine-Farmington 0
It took the Eagles until the second inning to score a run as Holzworth flied out to right field and Smith was able to tag up and score. In the third inning, Ewanik started the damage off as he hit an RBI-single to score Rogerson. Ewanik scored two batters later, when Curtis hit an RBI-single of his own to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead after three. They would cap of the scoring in the fourth inning as Austin Baron hit a two-out triple to the wall in left-center field, then Rogerson would bring him home on a single. Jake Gregoire came into the the game and pitched two no-hit innings before giving way to Jesse Colford as he closed out the game helping secure the Eagles' doubleheader sweep.
ON THE MOUND
Brandon Brunell picked up his first win of the season and moved to 1-1 on the season after he struck out four in four innings pitched and gave up three hits. Gregorie and Colford combined for one hit and five strikeouts in the remaining two innings pitched.
For the Beavers; Ky Morris pitched his first collegiate start and went the distance, but recorded the loss after allowing four runs on nine hits and striking out five.
AT THE PLATE

Rogerson led the offense in game two with one run driven in on three hits and scoring a run himself.

Like the first game, Bartell had two of the four Beaver hits.

The Eagles will look for the five-game series sweep tomorrow as both teams will head back to Farmington, Maine to play a doubleheader on Hippach Field with first pitch of game one scheduled for noon.
