Box Score BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University men's Lacrosse team picked up a 16-10 win over Thomas College in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division action on Saturday afternoon at Boucher Field.
IN THE ACTION:
Max Irons opened the game for Thomas (2-1, 2-1 NAC East) with a goal 1:27 into the game. Husson (2-3, 2-1 NAC East) took control from there, scoring seven unanswered in the first and five more in the second to take a 12-1 advantage going into halftime. The Eagles received four goals from Gunner McAllister, four from Danny Carter, three from Darryn Bailey and a goal from Jaden Wells.
Daniel MacWhinnie got one back for the Terriers in the third, scoring 44 seconds in. The teams then traded goals through the rest of the quarter, with Wells and McAllister scoring for the Eagles as Husson took a 14-4 lead into the fourth.
The Terriers and Eagles continued to trade goals in the opening minutes of the fourth as McAllister and Wells each netted unassisted goals to push the Husson lead to 16-5 with 8:50 remaining in the game.
Thomas scored the remaining five goals of the game in the final minutes of the fourth, but it wasn't enough to catch Husson as the Eagles hanged on for the 16-10 victory.
TEAM STATS:
Husson held the lead in shots (53-31), shots on goal (32-17), caused turnovers (15-8), ground balls (43-19) and faceoff victories (18-9).
THE KEEPERS:
Husson's Shawn Ragaglia made seven saves in the victory while Patrick Buxton took the loss in net for Thomas, notching five saves in the first half. Daniel Guarino made 11 saves in the second half between the pipes for the Terriers.
LEADERS – HUSSON:
- McAllister tallied six goals and three assists with two ground balls and a caused turnover.
- Carter contributed four goals, an assist, a ground ball, and a caused turnover.
- Bailey chipped in with three goals, six ground balls and three caused turnovers.
- Wells added three goals with two ground balls and a caused turnover.
- Ben Huynh added an assists to go along with his four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- Roman Dennis registered an assists, three ground balls and a caused turnover.
- Jacob Larochelle was 16-for-24 on faceoff attempts, while scooping up eight ground balls.
LEADERS – THOMAS (MAINE):
- Irons led the Terriers with four goals and three assists.
- Mathew Crisco tacked on two goals with a pair of ground balls.
- William Heywood added two goals, a ground ball and a caused turnover.
- Macwhinnie and William Trippe each registered a goal.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
With the win Husson improves to 14-3 all-time versus Thomas College and has now defeated the Terriers in ten-consecutive meetings at Boucher Field.
