Box Score 2 BANGOR, Maine - For the second straight day, the Husson University Eagles suffered a sweep by the 11th-ranked University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference baseball doubleheader at the Winkin Complex on Sunday. The Huskies took the opening game 13-1 before completing the sweep with a 5-2 win in the nightcap.
GAME ONE - SOUTHERN MAINE 13, HUSSON 1
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Southern Maine jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning on an RBI single from Janek Luksza and a two-run double from Tom Vesosky.
Sam Troiano's three-run bomb doubled the Huskies lead in the third before USM added another run on a sacrifice fly from Jason Komulainen prior to the final out of the inning.
Husson's lone run came in the third inning on an RBI single from Kobe Rogerson.
The Huskies added two runs in the fifth, single runs in the sixth and eighth, and two unearned runs in the ninth.
ON THE MOUND:
Hunter O'Connor took the loss after allowing seven runs off five hits with a punch out over 2.1 innings. Cayden Dupras and Zain Fitzsimmons combined to allow six runs (four earned) off nine hits and three walks with six K's in 6.2 innings of relief.
Gage Feeney went the first five innings allowing one run on two hits to earn the win, while striking out seven. Colton Lawrence, Lucas Francis, Dylan Miner and Ethan Brown each followed with a scoreless inning.

- Andrew Hillier went 3-6 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs.
- Troiano went 2-5 with three RBIs, a homerun, and two runs scored.
- Jonathan Wilson went 2-4 with a homerun, a double, a run scored and two RBIs.
GAME TWO - SOUTHERN MAINE 5, HUSSON 2
HOW IT HAPPENED:
USM took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Wilson opened the frame with a triple, and scored on Arlo Pike's single.
Pike scored the Huskies' second run in the top of the fourth inning coming home on Andrew Olszak's RBI single.
The Eagles tied the game in the home half of the fourth putting together three straight hits to produce two runs. Chris Ewanik singled to left field, and scored on Ethan Stoddard's RBI triple. Stoddard later scored on a single from Austin Baron.
The Huskies used a three-run uprising in the top of the fifth inning to snap a 2-2 tie. Cam Seymour broke the tie with his one-out RBI double. Seymour would score on an infield throwing error on Wilson's ground ball. Wilson came in to score the third run on Pike's single.
Husson made things interesting in the bottom of the ninth inning loading the bases with two outs on two singles and an outfield error, but Gavin Arsenault struck out the final batter to secure the 5-2 victory for the Huskies.
ON THE MOUND:
Stoddard started the game for the Eagles and went the first 1.2 innings, allowing one run on five hits with one strikeout. Jesse Colford took the loss after yielding three runs off three hits and two walks. He struck out two Huskie batters in 2.2 innings of work. Ryan Robb, Chris Naylor and Jake Gregoire combined to allow two hits and one unearned run over the final 4.2 innings with three strikeouts.
James Sinclair pitched the first four innings for the Huskies, allowing two runs on four hits with one punch out. Bryce Afhtim, Colton Lawrence and Arsenault combined to pitch five scoreless innings. Afthim was credited with the win, while Arsenault earned a save.
OFF THE BAT – HUSSON:
- Ewanik went 2-4 with a run scored.
- Baron went 2-4 with a RBI.
- Stoddard, James Lubanski and Austin Snow each registered a hit.
OFF THE BAT – SOUTHERN MAINE:
- Olszak went 2-5 with a RBI.
- Troiano went 2-5 with a run scored.
- Pike went 2-3 with two RBIs, a run scored and a walk.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
The weekend series with the University of Southern Maine marked the first time in program history that the Eagles have faced the Huskies four times in a single-season and the most since the 1984 campaign when the schools played three games against each another.
