Box Score BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University men's lacrosse team (0-1) dropped their season opener to Maine Maritime Academy (1-1), 16-9, on Friday night.

Gridlocked in a back and forth defensive battle to open the game, Riley Morin scored first as the Mariners took a 1-0 lead just under six minutes into the first frame. Jaden Wells would make quick work of a man-up opportunity for the Eagles, sending a shot past Garrett Ruszkowski to even the score. The Mariners would rattle off two more goals before Matthew Boynton scored his first tally of the night, sending the Eagles into the break down by one.
Gunner McAllister would kickstart the Eagles' offense in the second quarter, finding Wells for the score. MMA would continue to extend their lead, as Zeke Tocci fired off three consecutive goals to give the visitors a 10-5 lead heading into the half.
The Eagles and Mariners would swap a pair of goals in the third quarter, but the visitors of Maine Maritime Academy would hold on to clinch the victory, 16-9.

Opening up the season with a career-high four goals, Boynton led the Eagles on the scoreboard while chipping in an assist.

Darryn Bailey scooped up eight ground balls for Husson while Maine Maritime's Chandler Coombs grabbed a game-high ten ground balls.

Leading the charge for the Mariners was Tocci with seven goals and one assist.

Husson goalie Shawn Ragaglia stopped six shots in his opening debut in net for the Eagles while his opponent, Ruszkowski made 16 saves on the night.
