Box Score CASTINE, Maine - The Husson University women's soccer team has earned a rematch with Maine Maritime Academy after an impressive 5-2 victory over the University of Maine at Farmington in the North Atlantic Conference Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon at Ritchie Field on the campus of Maine Maritime.
The Beavers opened the scoring in the second minute via Kate Mohlar. In the 20th minute, the Eagles responded with the leveler as Charlotte Messer was able to put home a rebound shot that took the Beavers' keeper out of the net. Over two minutes, the Eagles had the lead as Natalie Aviolla was at it again as Megan Buddemeyer delievered a perfect cross and Aviolla was in the middle of the box with to perfectly lob it over the keeper. In the 41st minute, Molly Ennis extended the lead just before the break with a rocket from 30 yards out.
In the second half, the Eagles would score twice in a 90 second span as they would go on to win, 5-2. In the 53rd minute, Shannon Dowd played Katie Raymond behind the defense and Raymond used a heavy touch to set up a 1v1 with the keeper and she coverts then Dowd gets a goal on her own to complete the scoring for the green and gold.
Hannah Kenney made the start for the Eagles but then was replaced by Shie Smith as each goal made a save and allowed a goal. Callie Hammer made two saves in the losing effort for the Beavers.
The Eagles will head back out to Castine tomorrow (Sunday, October 31st) to face off with the Mariners in the NAC East Championship game with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
