Eagles Outscored by Monks on the Road

STANDISH, Maine – Husson (0-3) traveled down to Saint Joseph's College of Maine (2-0), for their third game of the season. The Husson men's lacrosse squad scored four goals against the Monks as they lost 18-4 on Tuesday afternoon. 

IN THE ACTION:

Alex Osmanski started the Monks' scoring as he found the back of the net within the first twenty seconds of play.  Shane Puleo would continue the scoring with two goals and one assist as the Monks closed out the first quarter with a score of 6-0. 

The Monks' Puleo would register two more goals in the second quarter, bringing their total to eight before Husson got on the board with a tally in the second quarter from Gunner McAllister, assisted by Shawn Ragaglia.  Husson's defense rallied back to keep the Monks from scoring throughout the remainder of the period and held the score 8-1 to finish the first half.

Brendan Martin opened up scoring in the second half with another St. Joe's goal within 20 seconds of the opening whistle. Jaden Wells cut the mountain of a score down to, 9-2, with the second goal for the Eagles, with an assist from Darryn Bailey for his first career point.  Saint Joseph's tacked on six unanswered goals to bring the score to 15-2.

Eagles' McAllister recorded his second tally of the game to start the fourth quarter, without wasting any time in the first minute.  Husson refused to give up as Matthew Boynton tucked away his first collegiate goal with 2:03 left in the game as the Eagles were playing a man down.  Saint Joseph's would continue their scoring by registering three more goals in the fourth quarter to wrap up the game ahead, 18-4. 

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's held the lead in shots (50-26) and ground balls (46-29) while splitting faceoffs wins with the Eagles (13-13).

THE KEEPERS:

The Monks split time in goal with Michael Janocha making eight saves on fifteen shots in 45 minutes of play while Giuseppe Brown and Brannon Gilbert played the final quarter, each allowing one goal.

Husson's Kyle Prior faced 43 shots and made eight saves in 48:44 minutes of play while Bryan Wagg played the remainder of the fourth quarter facing seven shots and making one save.

  • Shane Puleo scored four goals and four assists along with grabbing two ground balls.
  • Alex Osmanski scooped up eight ground balls while scoring one goal.
  • Max Lacy recorded a hat trick along with one assist while picking up six ground balls.
  • Shane Fors won 13 of 24 faceoffs.

Husson will host their home opener this Saturday, February 29th against Dean College at 11:00 a.m.
