Women's Soccer Holds on for a 2-1 Victory Over UMaine-Farmington

BANGOR, Maine – Husson University (2-3-0, 1-1-0 NAC) downed the University of Maine at Farmington (1-5-1, 0-1-1 NAC), 2-1, in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's soccer contest at John P. Boucher Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Eagles grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute when Arianna McKinnon slid the ball past the UMF keeper into the right corner for her first tally of the season. Husson doubled the advantage at the 41:22 mark when Sydney Drew launched a shot from 30-yards out soaring over the outstretched fingers of the UMF keeper to the far post for her first career collegiate goal.

The Beavers managed to get on the board in the 66th minute, when McKenna Brodeur slotted the ball across the field to her wide open teammate, Emily Larochelle, who then took it outside and snuck the ball inside the front post for her first career goal.

TEAM STATS:

Husson held the advantages in shots (12-6), shots on goal (8-4) and corner kicks (5-1).

THE KEEPERS:

Shie Smith (2-3-0) finished the game with three saves to her earn second victory of the season, while Callie Hammer (1-5-1) posted six stops for the Beavers in the setback.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

With the win, Husson improves to 16-36-2 all-time versus UMaine-Farmington.

Husson is back in action on Saturday, September 28th when they host the University of New England in a non-conference game at John P. Boucher Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
