Polar Bears Squash Eagles' Comeback One Run Short, 8-7

Box Score

BANGOR, Maine - Despite a five-run fifth inning, the Husson Eagles (16-14, 6-4 NAC) fell to the Bowdoin Polar Bears (5-17-1, 3-6 NESCAC) by a final score of 8-7 with the tying run left stranded on base.

The Polar Bears got out to a quick start, scoring three runs to open the game. Husson scored their first run in the second inning, when Alex Chapman scored on an RBI single by Brandon Smith. Bowdoin would respond right away, tacking on two runs in the third inning and three in the fifth, securing a confident 8-1 lead.

The Husson bats woke up in the fifth inning, as the Eagles would get back into the ballgame by scoring a total of five runs. Kobe Rogerson and David LeBlanc both had RBI singles in the inning, while Ethan Stoddard added a two-run RBI triple. Stoddard would come around to score on another RBI single by B. Smith, cutting the deficit to 8-6.
