Wells and Littlefield Lead Charge Against Hornets with 21-10 Conference Victory

Box Score

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Husson University men's lacrosse squad (3-4, 2-1) captured a commanding 7-1 advantage in the first quarter and never looked back as they went on to defeat Northern Vermont University-Lyndon (1-5, 1-1) by a final score of 21-10 on Sunday afternoon.

IN THE ACTION:

The Husson Eagles wasted no time getting on the board, as Brad Brink scored an unassisted goal exactly one minute into the contest. Adam Littlefield posted a standout first quarter, nearly scoring a natural hat trick, but his goals were broken up by the lone Hornets' goal of the opening frame by Anthony Townsend. NVU-Lyndon's goal marked the first of four-straight man-up points recorded in just the first 15 minutes of the game as Zach Glazier capped off scoring with 3:41 left in the quarter and a 7-1 advantage.

The Hornets scored just one more goal in the opening half as the Eagles continued to maintain their offensive intensity with two more goals from Littlefield and a hat trick from Jaden Wells by the time the whistle blew for halftime to bring the score to 9-2.

NVU-Lyndon picked up the pace, outscoring Husson in the third quarter, 6-4, with an unassisted hat trick from Hornet Spencer Aubin to cut the deficit to 17-8 heading into the fourth. That scorewould be the closest the Hornets would get to catching up the with Eagles as they continued to fall behind, 21-10 to finish out the game.

NETMINDERS:

The Eagles changed goalies entering the fourth quarter of play as Kyle Prior stepped in between the posts to takeover for Matt Martin. Prior stopped three of five shots in the final quarter to shut the door on the Hornets, while Martin saved 14 shots. On the other end of the field, Aaron Florence and Camden LeClair split time in net with five saves for Florence and seven for LeClair.

HUSSON LEADERS:

  • Wells and Littlefield led the charge with six goals apiece. Wells also dished three assists while Littlefield helped out with one.
  • Glazer and Gunner McAllister each added on three goals while Glazier helped out with four assists.
  • Blane Miller and Littlefield both caused three turnovers.

NVU-LYNDON LEADERS:

  • Shea Jones and Aubin each recorded three goals, and were the only players to record multiple goals for the Hornets.
  • Justin Servidori grabbed the game-high of eight ground balls.
  • Brandon Hunter caused the most turnovers in the game by a single player with five.
