Box Score BANGOR, Maine - Husson University (6-6, 3-1 NECC) defeated Dean College (1-12, 0-4 NECC), 13-0, in a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) field hockey contest at the Dr. John W. Winkin Sports Complex on Saturday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Allysah Greene put the Eagles up 1-0 with her second goal of the season five minutes and two seconds into the game before Kolby Kain pushed the Husson advantage to two, just 45 seconds later. Husson received two more goals in the opening quarter from Kain (8:05) and Ryley Newcomb (9:05) to take a 4-0 lead into the second frame.
Husson entered the break with a 9-0 lead after receiving goals from Isis Adams, Leigha Carrier, Newcomb, Greene and Caroline Johnson from Carrier in the second quarter.
Karen Stemm netted the Eagles tenth goal of night at the 29:49 mark off an assist from Mallory Fairbanks to give Husson their first ten-goal game at home since the 2004 season when they tallied ten versus Wheelock on October 10th. Lauren Grocholl's first career tally was achieved at the 41:10 mark, pushing the score to 11-0, which set a new school record for most goals scored at home.
Tallies from Fairbanks and Katie Perkins in the final quarter gave Husson the 13-0 victory. Both goals were set up by Kain.
BETWEEN THE POSTS:
Kimmie Goddard (6-6) recorded her first career shutout victory without facing a single shot on goal, while her counterpart Alexis Masse (1-12) had 20 stops in the setback.
