Cam Graham's No-Hitter Helps Baseball to Sunday Split with Lyndon, 0-2, 1-0

BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University baseball team (14-22, 9-13 NAC) split  a doubleheader with the Lyndon State College Hornets (17-15, 13-5 NAC) by the final scores of 0-2 and 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Alfond Diamond on the John W. Winkin Complex.

Husson recognized four seniors before the game for their accomplishments with the Husson University baseball program: Tommy Burns (Eddington, Maine), Cody Collins (Bangor, Maine), David Hutchins (Hingham, Mass.), and Corey Nadeau (Gorham, Maine).

Game 1 - Lyndon 2, Husson 0

How it Happened:

The Hornets started off the scoring in the sixth inning as Ryder Thorton (Essex, Vt.) lined an RBI-single to score Codi Smith (Hartford, Vt.) and give the Hornets a 1-0 lead.

Lyndon extended their lead in the seventh inning as Ryan Cordeiro (Rollinsford, N.H.) drove home Sam Ognenoff (Brattleboro, Vt.) on a single to make the score 2-0. The lead would stand for the Hornets as they would take game one, 2-0.

Batters: Husson

Pitchers: Husson

  • Austin Smith (Lincoln, Maine) (L, 2-4) pitched seven innings, while allowing two runs on seven hits, walking one batter, and striking out five.

Batters: Lyndon

  • Thorton with two hits and a RBI.

  • Zak Johnson (East Hampton, Conn.) with a run and a hit.

  • Smith scored a run.

Pitchers: Lyndon

  • James Mundy (Brentwood, N.H.) (W, 5-4) pitched seven innings, allowed four hits, walked five, and struck out two.

Game 2 - Husson 1, Lyndon State 0

How it Happened:

The Eagles didn't waste any time by scoring in the first inning of the second game as Sam Huston (Bangor, Maine) crushed an RBI-single to right center scoring Guerrette and giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead. It would end up being the only run scored in game two.

That is all Cam Graham needed as he no hit the Hornets in game two. The only baserunners reached on two walks and a throwing error.

  • Huston with two hits and a RBI.

  • Wong with a hit.

  • Guerrette scored a run.

Pitchers: Husson

  • Cam Graham (Littleton, Maine) (W, 2-1) pitched seven innings, allowed no runs, no hits, walked two, and struck out seven.

Batters: Lyndon

  • Michael Pena (New City, N.Y.) with a walk.

  • Ian Machia (Enosburg Falls, Vt.) with a walk.

Pitchers: Lyndon

  • Jake Jourdain (Becket, Mass.) (L, 3-3) pitched seven innings, walked two batters, and struck out seven.

The Eagles will finish off the regular season with a trip to Colby-Sawyer to take on the Chargers tomorrow, April 30th starting at 2:00 p.m.
