WATERVILLE, Maine – The Husson University baseball team split a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheader with Thomas College on Tuesday afternoon at H. Allen Ryan Field, winning game one, 4-0, and falling in game two, 8-3.

The Terriers move to 6-26 (3-13 NAC) following the twinbill while the Eagles sit at 12-19 (8-10 NAC).

Game 1: Husson 4, Thomas 0

The Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead behind two homeruns from Tyler Young.  Young knocked a solo shot in the third followed by a two-run homer to left field in the fourth.  The Eagles tacked on an insurance marker in the seventh as Nick Guerrette singled in Young to end at 4-0.

Tommy Burns picked up the win for Husson in six innings, allowing six hits and no runs.  Cody Cousins threw all seven innings for Thomas, surrendering four hits and four runs (three earned).

Game 2: Thomas 8, Husson 3

The Terriers took a 1-0 advantage in the opening frame on a Hank Vinall sacrifice fly.  Thomas looked to pull away in the second as they pushed across three runs on a two-RBI double by John Villanueva (Gray, Maine) and a RBI single from Alex Curtis.

Later on in the fourth, Curtis drove in another run as his double brought around Dominic Esposito.  The Eagles, chipped away at the deficit in the fifth as they plated a pair of runs on back-to-back singles by Luke Covey and Conor Maguire.

Thomas answered back in the bottom of the six as Vinall sent a two-RBI double to right field followed by a Darren Kelly single to make it 8-2.  The Eagles finished the scoring at 8-3 in the seventh on a Thomas error.

Ryan Scepansky earned his first collegiate win on the mound, scattering six hits and two runs while striking out five.  Ryan Allender shouldered the loss in two innings, three hits, and four runs.

The Eagles will host Colby College for a single-non-conference game tomorrow night. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
