Box Score 2 BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University baseball team split a Saturday double header with North Atlantic Conference foe UMaine-Farmington. The Beavers won Game 1, 8-5, while the Eagles took Game 2, 5-1, at the Dr. John W. Winkin Sports Complex at Husson University.
Game 1 UMaine-Farmington 8, Husson 5
How it Happened:
Husson started the scoring off in the first inning as they scored four runs. Alex Chapman (Brewer, Maine) started off the scoring reaching on a throwing error that scored Conor Maguire (Ellsworth, Maine). Luke Covey (Milton, Vt.) grounded out to the pitcher to drive in the second run of the game. Stefan Strachan (Nassau, Bahamas) continued the inning with an RBI-single to right field. Jonah Martin (Lewiston, Maine) would add a run by scoring on a wild pitch.
The Beavers cut the lead to 4-2 as Kevin Carter (Bowdoinham, Maine) lined a single to left field to bring home a pair of runs.
Two innings later, the Beavers would tie the game as Nick Attaliades-Ryan (Otisfield, Maine) knocked a double to left field that brought home a run. Taylor Lockhart (Hallowell, Maine) would bring home Attaliades-Ryan on a double play to tie the game at four.
The Green and Gold regained the lead in the 6th inning as Mike Wong drove home Strachan on a single to left field, giving the Eagles a 5-4 lead.
In the 7th inning, the Eagles recorded two quick outs then the Beavers would score four runs. Riley Chickering (Otisfield, Maine) started the scoring with a single to left field to tie the game at five. Carter finished the scoring for the Beavers in a big way as he cleared the bases on a 3-run home run to make it 8-5.

How it Happened:
The Eagles jumped out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to Covey with a single up the middle that scored Chapman and Guerrette.
The Beavers responded in the 3rd inning with an Attaliades-Ryan RBI-single through the left side to bring home Jake Bessey (Jay, Maine), now trailing Husson, 2-1.
In the 5th, Covey recorded his 3rd RBI of the game with a triple to score Chapman and give the Eagles a 3-1 lead. After a new pitcher for UMaine-Farmington, the Eagles added another run as Covey scored thanks to a sacrifice bunt by Nick Whitten (South Portland, Maine).
In the 6th inning, the Eagles added a run as Maguire lifted a sacrifice fly to right field that allowed Wong to score and make it 5-1. Husson held onto the 5-1 lead for their first win of the 2018 season at home.
