Box Score BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University Baseball Team (2-7) dropped their home opener 10-2 to Saint Joseph's Monks (7-5) in an in-state rivalry game at Alfond Diamond on Thursday Afternoon.
How it Happened:
The Monks jumped out to a 3-0 lead after Anthony DiPrizio (Rochester, N.H.) lined an RBI single. Noah McDaniel (Eliot, Maine) would lace a single that brought home two runs to make it 3-0 Monks in the first inning.
Monks scored four runs in the 2nd inning that started in thanks to Chris Geross (Chester, N.H.) with an RBI-single. DiPrizio drove home two more runs to make it 6-0 Monks before Jacob White (Salem, N.H.) lifted a sacrifice fly to make it 7-0 Monks after two innings of play.
The Eagles got on to the scoreboard in the 3rd inning as Luke Covey (Milton, Vt.) hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Nick Guerrette (Hermon, Maine) making it 7-1 Monks.
The Monks responded in the the 6th inning with a Geross triple down the left field line that brought home a run to make it 8-1 Monks. Ben Gravel (Rochester, N.H.) recorded a single to left field scoring Geross. The Monks would lead 9-1.
The Eagles responded in the 7th inning as Guerrette smacked a sacrifice fly to right field to bring home Stefen Strachan (Nassau, Bahamas). The Eagles trailed 9-2 after 7 innings.
The Monks finished off the scoring in the eighth inning as they added a run in thanks to a Jared Gagne (Dover, N.H.) single to center field. St. Joseph's would hold onto the 10-2 lead for their seventh win of the season.
