NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Eight Eagles scored against Albertus Magnus (0-10) on Sunday afternoon in the Falcons Field Hockey Tournament as Husson University field hockey (2-8) broke countless program records on Celentano field capturing a resounding 18-0 shutout win. 

THE SCOOP:

The Falcons defended well in the opening minutes of the game as rookie Kasey Herrera was extremely active in net with countless shots fired her way by the Eagles. She'd already notched four saves before Husson's Allison Leighton found the back of the net to open up the scoring flood gates. By the end of 35 minutes, the Eagles had recorded nine goals and continued their relentless attack in the second half doubling their score by the end of 70 minutes to 18-0. 

This match marked the most goals scored in a single game in program history for the Eagles which was set back in 2000, in addition to the largest victory margin by a Husson field hockey team. Leading the convocation, Sadie Royer had the game of her career, tucking away a career-high five goals which tied her for the most goals scored in a single game by an Eagle as she recorded her 50th career point to become the 16th Husson field hockey player to reach this feat. Not only did she score, but Royer also dished out the assist for the first goal of the game to earn a total of 11 points by the end of the day which is the most ever recorded in a single game. 

Royer wasn't the only player to display a remarkable performance as Haley Ward recorded a hat trick for the second time this season and Leighton contributed her first career hat trick while also passing off an assist. Kolby Kain and Kelly Griffin each contributed a pair of goals towards the win while six other Eagles recorded points. 

BETWEEN THE POSTS:

Herrera recorded a career-high 30 saves in net for the Falcons while Andrea Shaggy earned her first ever career shutout without having to lift a finger. 

TEAM STATS:

Husson held the clear advantage in shots on goal, 51-0, and penalty corners, 12-0.
