Field Hockey Overpowers Clark (Mass.) in Non-Conference Victory, 3-1

BANGOR, Maine - Husson University (7-3, 3-0 NAC) defeated Clark University (5-8, 1-4 NEWMAC), 3-1, in a non-conference field hockey matchup at the Dr. John W. Winkin Complex on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Eagles dominated the stat sheet in the first half, overpowering the Cougars 21-1 in shots. However, they only managed to score one goal. Freshman Ali Bourget netted an unassisted goal to give Husson the 1-0 lead with just under 10 minutes to play in the half.

Husson's offense immediately turned it on in the second period as senior Taylor Shaw scored her seventh goal of the season off of a Bourget pass. The Eagles added another goal in the 50:29 minute to give themselves a 3-0 lead. Senior Mikayla Toth collected her ninth career goal, with Bourget being credited for her second assist of the game.

The Cougars spoiled the Eagles shutout hopes in the 51st minute when sophomore Julia D'Antonio knocked in a goal off of a corner play.

THE KEEPERS:

Husson senior Anne Marie Provencal posted two saves on three shots on goal in the HU victory while Dani Michaud tallied 20 saves, in a losing effort.

TEAM STATS:
Husson held an advantage in shots (43-4), shots on goal (23-3) and penalty corners (8-3).

The Eagles will travel to Castleton University for a 12:00 p.m. conference game on Saturday, October 14.
