Eagles Knock Off the Defending NAC Champions Colby-Sawyer, 1-0

Box Score

BANGOR, Maine – Leah Hibbad's goal in the opening minutes of the game proved to be the game-winner in a 1-0 Husson victory over Colby-Sawyer in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday afternoon at Boucher Field.

Husson (2-3-0, 1-0-0 NAC) picked up its first regular season victory over the Chargers in program history, while Colby-Sawyer drops their first game to the Eagles since November 1, 2011 when Husson knocked off the Chargers 1-0 in a NAC Semifinal matchup.

The Eagles got the lone tally just 4:34 into the game, when Maddie Page took a throw in and threw it over to Brooke LaBelle. LaBelle served the ball to Hibbad who blasted a shot from nine yards out pass the Chargers' keeper.

Husson played defensively for the rest of the contest, and fended off the Charger attacks to finish the game with the 1-0 victory.

Eagle keeper Kayla Gordon made 17 saves to earn her third career shutout and her second win of the season. Her counterpart Sam Mitchell saved two in the loss.

The Chargers outshot the Eagles 27-5.

Husson will return to action tomorrow afternoon when they host Bowdoin for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference game at Boucher Field. The Chargers will host Wheaton (Mass.) on September 21 with an 4:15 p.m. kickoff.
