Box Score BANGOR, Maine – Brandon Corbo tallied six points (3g, 3a) to help propel the Eagles to a 12-5 win against Lyndon State in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday afternoon at Boucher Field.
Husson (1-5, 1-0 NAC) records their first victory of the season, while Lyndon State (0-4, 0-1 NAC) loses its tenth-consecutive game to the Eagles and falls to 0-10 in the all-time series.
Corbo put the Eagles on the board first with an unassisted goal two minutes and 12 seconds into the game before he contributed on the next three Husson goals with assists on Brandon Bosse's goal at 9:14, Jack White at 8:20 and Brooks Gay at 4:40. The Eagles added two late goals on Gay's second of the game and a man-up goal by Corbo as Husson lead 6-0 at the end of the first.
Blake Campbell gave the Eagles a 9-0 lead with his first collegiate goal at 6:04 of the second before Shea Jones found Kevin McCarthy for a man-up goal putting the Hornets on the scoreboard with 3:43 remaining in the half. Husson entered the intermission with a 10-1 lead after Corbo scored his third of game at the 2:20 mark.
Tom Hart scored his first collegiate goal at the 7:03 mark of the third between two Zachary Carey goals as the Eagles led 11-3 going into the fourth.
Jack White put the game out of reach 10 seconds into the fourth with a man-up goal for his first hat-trick since 2013. An unassisted goal by Adam Peeler and man-up goal by Spencer Aubin made the game 12-5.
Corbo added a caused turnover to go along with his three goals and assists while Gay added two assists and Trent Sell, Derek Johnson and Matt Martin each had an assist apiece. Johnson scooped up five groundballs and Devin Campbell and Vinny Visconti each caused three turnovers in the victory. M. Martin and Nick Zavorotny spilt time playing in the net, making five saves each.
Carey led the Hornets with two goals on six shots with two groundballs while McCarthy, Aubin and Peeler each netted a goal with Jones adding two assists. Shane Morin and Marcus Bessette each played a half making 15 total saves in the setback.
The Eagles outshot the Hornets, 51-29 and won the groundball battle 29-17 while winning 13-of-20 face-offs.
With the victory today the Husson University men's lacrosse team gave Head Coach Mike Craig his first collegiate win.
The Eagles return to action next Saturday, April 2nd when they travel to Johnson State for a 1:00 p.m. conference game while Lyndon State host New England College on Wednesday, March 30 at 3:30 p.m. to continue conference play.
