Women's Soccer Edge Out Mariners, 1-0

BANGOR, Maine - Husson University women's soccer program (6-5, 5-1) defeated the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners (5-5-1, 3-2) 1-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday evening at John P. Boucher Field.

Taylor Fortin had the lone goal in the contest in the 14th minute on a feed from Maddie Page. Fortin lead the Eagles with four shots, all of which were on goal. Hannah Clough followed with three shots, while Sydney Costa and Mollie Roy each had two. Goalkeeper Kayla Gordon had four saves in the win for the Eagles. 

For the Mariners, Morgan Libby tallied four shots while Makayla Lewis and Erin Doiron had three shots apiece. Goalkeeper Maggie McConkey had ten saves on the night with one goal against. 

"I couldn't be more proud of the effort and heart our team showed tonight," says head coach Amanda Cummings, "They played with poise and took care of business. It was a real physical game and exciting to watch. I'm extremely pleased with how well we are playing Husson soccer!" 

The Mariners are back in action on Monday, October 10 against Gordon. The Eagles take on non-conference opponent Bates tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at John P. Boucher Field.
