Glazier and Corbo help Husson Advance in NAC Tournament with Win over Lyndon State.

Bangor, ME - Husson Men's Lacrosse (9-6) flew by the Hornets of Lyndon State (3-7) in their NAC Quarterfinal matchup 15-4 on Saturday night at Boucher Field to advance to their sixth conservative NAC Semifinal appearance.

The Eagles would strike first at the 14:13 mark of the first when Zack Glazier (Winthrop, ME) hit a wide open Trent Sell (Lititz, PA) for the first goal of the game. Husson would score four more times in the first. The first one coming from another pass from Glazier this time to Derek Driscoll (Portland, ME) with 5:03 left. Brandon Corbo (Merrimack, NH) would score his first of his four goals in game with an unassisted goal 37 seconds later making the game 3-0. At the 1:27 mark Glazer would find Corbo again with his second goal of the period.  With 40 seconds left to go in the period Glazier would finally find the back of net for his first goal of game.

Ricky Carroll (Ann Arbor, MI) scored Lyndon State's first goal of the game with 13:46 left in the second period on a man -up opportunity when Derek Johnson (South Berwick, ME) was called for a cross-checking penalty at 14:09. The Eagles would respond 15 seconds later when Glazier found James Seager (Gilford, ME) for his eighth goal on the season. Corbo would then net his third of the game from a nice pass from Sell with 7:53 to go and about 50 seconds later Glazier would end the scoring of the first half with his second of the game.

Corbo would open the second half with his fourth of game at the 13:54 mark but the Eagles were not done scoring as they would take advantage of a Carroll slashing penalty when Corbo would find Glazier for a man-up goal with the 11:49 left in the third period.

Kevin McCarthy (West Sayville, NY) got the Hornets on the scoreboard in the second half when he scored an unassisted goal at 11:37 in third and Colin Young (Sharon, VT) added another as Lyndon made the game 10-3. The Eagles would close out the scoring in the third when Sell scored his second of game and Kevin Nolan (Norwood, MA) scored from an assist from Driscoll.

In the fourth the Eagles would score two man-down goals thanks to a cross-checking penalty to Johnson and an Illegal body checking penalty to Rich Gardner (Taunton, MA). The first goal came off the stick of Seager when Glazier from him at the 7:12 mark and Brandon Bosse (Waterboro, ME) from a Nolan pass at 5:00 mark extending the Husson lead to 14-3.

Robert Crupi (Scituate, MA) scored Lyndon's final goal of the game with 3:50 left in the game but Glazier wasn't done as he would take a pass from Sell 27 seconds later for his fourth of the game making the game 15-4.

Glazier would finish the game with a game high 9 points (4g 5a), grab 9 groundballs, caused one turnover on defense and record his 6th game winning goal on the season tying him with Mitch Heaps for the most in one season.   Corbo had 4 goals and 1 assist for 5 points as he record his 147th career point the third most in program history and took a game high 16 shots. Seager scoop up his team leading 154th groundball with 11 in the game, caused a game high 6 turnovers on defense to boost his season total to 57.

Tom Lepage (Lewiston, ME) made 8 saves in the net for the Eagles as he picked up his 9th win on the season breaking the single-season school record for wins by a goalkeeper. Ryan Leavitt (West Burke, VT) made 22 saves in goal for the Hornets.

The Eagles outshot the Hornets 61-24, won the groundball battle 50-21 and held them to 1-9 on man-up opportunities as the Eagles currently hold the 24th best man-up defense in the country.

With the win today the Eagles approve to 9-0 all-time versus Lyndon State and Head Coach, Marsh Gray pick up his fourteenth career win tying him second all-time in program history.

The Eagles will travel to Castleton, Vermont on Tuesday, April 28th when they face the number one seeded Spartans of Castleton State College at 2:00pm. Lyndon State will host Albertus Magnus in a non-conference matchup on Thursday, April 30th at 3:30pm.
