Eagles Sweep Season Series With Farmington; Streak Stands At 10

Bangor, ME - Husson baseball picked up another pair of wins on Thursday afternoon at the Winkin complex as the visiting team in games that were originally schedule at Farmington. The Eagles battled and held on in game one, and battle back late to earn an extra inning win for the second time in three games in game two.

Game 1 Husson 4, UMF 3

Husson took advantage of Farmington mistakes early, scoring in the first inning on a pop up that should have easily been caught down the right field line to retire JT Whitten. Instead, Whitten reached on the error and Brandon Gendreau scored.

In the second, Jordan Carter hit his team-lead-tying third home run of the season over the left field fence to build the Husson lead to 2-0.

In the bottom half, however, Farmington added some firepower of their own. Chad Snowman hit a sac fly to right that advanced Jordan Croteau to third and scored Jimmie Neal. Two at-bats later, Jimmy Parks singled through the left side of the infield to tie the game at two.

Carter added two more RBI to his total in the fifth inning, which ended up being the winning runs, when he doubled to right center scoring Christian Corneil and Whitten.

Farmington added a run in the bottom of the sixth on a Trever Hisler RBI single, but the Eagles held on in the seventh for their 9th consecutive win.

Dan Whitney went the distance for the Eagles, allowing three earned on seven hits with a walk and five strikeouts over the seven innings in picking up the win. Whitney moves to 3-0 on the season while Kyle Peterson falls to 1-2 with the loss.

Game 2: Husson 5, UMF 2

Game two proved to be the Jimmie Neal show early on for Farmington. The junior tripled to right center in the third and scored later on a wild pitch to make it 2-0 Farmington.

The Eagles trailed until the sixth, when the bats came alive. Carter reached on a fielder's choice that scored JT Whitten and Zach Sugar singled through the right scoring the DH, Cam Archer.

Move forward to extra innings in the eighth as Husson plated three more runs. Sugar singled through the left side this time, scoring what would be the game-winning run in Christian Corneil. Moments later Andrew Curran added an RBI triple that scored Ryan Rebar and Curran scored on a Brandon Gendreau single to go ahead 5-2.

Corey Mongiat came in for the save in the bottom of the ninth, giving Robert Graff the win, his second of the year. Tagged with the loss was Joe Sullivan who fell to 1-2.

Husson will be right back at it on Friday at 2:00pm as they host Thomas College in yet another NAC doubleheader.
